Universal Purpose Found for Routine Human Life

I live in California. I am very happily married and have three grown children and one granddaughter. My husband and I enjoy outdoor activities such as cycling, hiking, walking, and swimming between our involvement with the local church and busy school schedules. My life is full and satisfying, but it has not always been so. I thank my Lord for having enlightened me to His universal, divine purpose.

As a young person I was haunted with two questions. First, I felt that life had no purpose especially mundane, routine life. Where was meaning in everyday life? Second, the world was filled with insurmountable problems. How could I solve problems of war, hunger and poverty? Finding no answers, I resigned myself to just enjoy what I could in life and have a good time. It was not until I was in college that I discovered the answers to these questions.

Despite my apparent thriving social life at college, I found myself dissatisfied and alone frequently. A deep emptiness haunted me until some friends shared with me about my human spirit as the deepest part of my being. My human spirit, I found out, is where the Lord entered into me, to live in my heart. With tears of joy, I began to pray, read verses from the Bible and thank the Lord for filling the emptiness within me.

Eventually, I attended a meeting of the local church in my college town. Here, I saw the many people enjoying God and knew in my heart that the worship of God is in the way of enjoying Him in spirit (John 4:24). Gradually, the Bible became an understandable book to me, thanks to the ministry and writings of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee.

I began to see that God has a purpose, and that this is why He made man as a vessel to contain Him. I realized this satisfaction of Christ within me was for a purpose: the great and divine purpose of God. A guiding revelation in my life is seeing that Christ needs a Body in order for Him to head up the entire universe. This is the mystery of His will (Ephesians 1:9, 10). The revelation unveiled to me in the Bible through this ministry answered my personal seeking for everyday purpose, as well as revealing that even I, too, can have a part in solving the problems of mankind. We need to bring to fulfillment God’s purpose by allowing Him to fill us as His Body, His church (Ephesians 1:22-23). This will bring the Lord back and establish His kingdom on the earth.

My need for purpose in life was like an empty glove wanting to be filled with the hand of His wonderful purpose. How incredible that human beings are the center of the eternal plan of God. This is why we were created. Praise our God of Purpose!
